RESPONSIBILITY MISSION

To be a broadly embracing, positive force for girls and women—and
for the causes they love. We believe that caring for women around
the world and providing them with opportunities to lead,
strengthen communities and live well will change the world and
lead to a better future for us all.

Between 2005 and 2018, the ANN brands donated more than
$98 million to our nonprofit partners through cause marketing
campaigns, fundraising and Associate engagement. By 2025,
ascena retail group inc. and their valued customers aim to
raise $250 million in support of women and girls globally
to help them be their best selves.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
At LOFT, we are committed to helping our customers and
Associates live and dress more sustainably. We care about how
our products are made, from the quality of the raw materials to
the impact of our manufacturing on society and the environment.
We are committed to increasing our sourcing of sustainable
materials, which we define as any materials that are better for the
environment and society in comparison to conventional fibers.
As part of these efforts, we are proud to support the Better
Cotton Initiative (BCI) in its mission to promote measurable and
continuing improvements for the environment, farming
communities and the economies of cotton-producing areas.

SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN
In 2014, we made a commitment to empower 100,000 women in
our global supply chain community by working with Business for
Social Responsibility (BSR) on HERproject, through which we
provide health or financial literacy training. We exceeded our
goal and are now exploring ways to expand on this impact and
reach more women in the supply chain.

In 2012, the ANN brands were one of the first women’s specialty
retailers to join the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), an
industry-wide coalition working to reduce the environmental and
social impacts of the apparel industry. We introduced the Higg
Facility Environmental Module (FEM) Index to the supply chain to
track key areas of supplier environmental impact, and incorporate
these assessments into our overall business evaluation of
suppliers. To advance broader industry practices, we also worked
closely with the SAC and other adopters to develop the Higg FEM
3.0, which will enable more sophisticated supplier performance
assessments and tracking.

Based in Washington, D.C., GirlTrek is pioneering a health movement for
African American girls and women. The program is grounded in Civil
Rights history and principles and focuses on walking campaigns,
community leadership and health advocacy. Since its founding, GirlTrek
has grown into the largest public health nonprofit for African
American girls and women in the United States. Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program provides low-income girls from
inner city Chicago with the opportunity to learn the valuable life skill of
effective communication, preparing them for their personal and
professional endeavors. The program instills in these girls the confidence
to face the challenges of daily life by substituting aggressive forms of
communication and problem solving with new strategies that allow them
to gain a solid reputation and newfound respect. The Breast Treatment Task Force is a grassroots New York City
organization committed to providing free breast cancer education,
screening, diagnostic follow-up and treatment to low-income patients
without access to health insurance. BTTF is dedicated to the mission that
all individuals should have access to these vital resources – regardless of
age, race, financial status and insurance status. Based in Cambridge, MA, Found in Translation strives to help homeless
and low-income multilingual women to achieve economic security
through the use of their language skills. Their aim is to reduce ethnic,
racial and linguistic disparities in health care by introducing these
women’s multilingual talents into the workforce. Founded in 1996, Keshet is an Albuquerque-based nonprofit that aims
to inspire and unite communities by tapping into the unlimited
possibilities of dance, mentorship and access to a creative space for
the arts. Bringing together the arts, artists and the audience, Keshet
invites community members to experience and be inspired through
bold explorations of movement and a celebration of community.

GLSEN’s mission is to ensure that every member of every
school community is valued and respected, regardless of
sexual orientation, sexual identity or gender expression. The
organization was founded in 1990 by a small-but-dedicated
group of teachers in Massachusetts who came together to
improve an education system that too frequently allows its
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning
(LGBTQ) students to be bullied, discriminated against or fall
through the cracks.

Over 25 years later, that small group has grown into the
leading national education organization focused on ensuring
safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ students. Nationally,
8 out of 10 LGBTQ students are still harassed at school each
year because of who they are, and GLSEN is working to
change that.

Every day, GLSEN works to ensure that LGBTQ students are
able to learn and grow in a school environment free from
bullying and harassment. They tirelessly work to transform
our nation’s K-12 schools into the safe and affirming
environment all youth deserve.
